Detroit

Mission

Connect to Protect® (C2P®) Detroit is a diverse and passionate coalition committed to creating structural changes to prevent our city’s young gay, bisexual men, and transgender women from being vulnerable to HIV by fostering collaboration between various community partners.

Overview

The Connect to Protect®- Detroit coalition is a group of hard-working, passionate representatives from various local youth-serving and LGBTQ advocacy organizations, HIV prevention programs, universities, health departments and community activist groups. Using our collective expertise and experience, C2P®-Detroit aims to reduce HIV infections in Detroit’s most vulnerable youth by targeting policies, practices and aspects of the built environment that are linkable to HIV risk. By making high-level changes, we hope to ensure the continued success of existing HIV prevention efforts and create a better future for youth.  C2P®-Detroit working group meetings are held bimonthly. C2P®-Detroit also has four subcommittees that meet regularly on alternating months from the working group meetings. These four subcommittees are: Linkage to Care, HIV Education, Sustainability and Leadership and LGBTQ Youth Support.
